Pilgrimage and festival at Pantokrator Monastery



The pilgrimage to the Pantokrator Monastery for the celebration of the Metamorphosis of the Saviour begins on Thursday 1 August.

The pilgrimage lasts six days and on each day large numbers of believers climb to the highest point in Corfu (906m) with its unrivalled view.

On the Saviour's Day (6/8) and Eve (5/8) there will be a traditional fair in the picturesque village of Strinilas athe foot of the mountain. There will be a fair in Petalia on 4 August.

"Kaleidoscope" Group Exhibition: 17 Greek artists at the Attic Gallery




The Attic Gallery by ICON is hosting a group exhibition - opening on Saturday 13 July at 20:00.

The exhibition features 17 artists from around Greece and aims to present a literal kaleidoscope of art and artists that reflects the many faces of Greek reality.

Exhibition of Maps: "Corfu by the Great Cartographers"



Corfu Municipal Art Gallery will be exhibiting some of the artistically and scientifically important maps of Corfu from its collection.

From Thursday 25 April the works of these cartographers will be on exhibition in chronological order, covering four centuries, allowing us to see the development of cartography from the 17th century Baroque period, when aesthetics dominated, to the early 19th century, when there was an almost complete absence of any decorative items.

The exhibition will display 15 engravings in the central room of the Gallery's Permanent Exhibition.

Exhibition of sculptures and sketches by Kyriakos Rokos at Municipal Art Gallery



The award-winning artist is one of Greece's most important sculptors. Focussing on human beings, he works mainly with marble, bronze and wood to create his abstract works.

The exhibition of sculptures and ink drawings - which are completed works of art, not just drafts for the sculptures - will be on display for the first time in Corfu from 14 June to 3 August in the Temporary Exhibition section of the gallery in the Colonnade.

Bread Festival "From Wheat to Bread" in Neohori, Lefkimmi

Visitors will have the opportunity to see the following being made - pancakes, 'pitopoules', 'flaounes', 'riganates' and yeast bread - and to taste them all!

They will also be able to enjoy traditional Lefkimmi dances in traditional costume from the Cultural Society Dance Group along with Lefkimmi songs from the village vocal ensemble.

Along with Christos Zachos there will be musicians playing traditional lutes and violins to remind everyone of the songs and tunes of old.

Traditional fair in Erikoussa



The Church of St. Nicholas on Erikoussa is organising a traditional fair on Saturday 3 August.

There will be live music from the Phaeces Band and Chlomos Dance Group will also be taking part.

There will be transportation to the island from Agios Stefanos with the Pegasus at 18:30 and return after the fair. Return ticket: 10 Euros.

'Odyssey' Varkarola in Paliokastritsa



The spectacular Varkarola in Palaiokastritsa reenacts the arrival of Odysseus on the island of Corfu after his long voyage.


The myth is brought to life by boats, floating stages, majorettes, dancers, actors and fireworks accompanied by music by Vangelis.

All of these along with musicians, divers, philharmonic bands and the natural surrounding beauty create a phantasmagoric spectacle which gets better every year.

"Sissy - The Corfu Years": Special event at Achillion Palace



The Albert Cohen Society is organising a special event "Sissy - The Corfu Years" dedicated to Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

The event will focus especially on the years she spent in Corfu.

"Sissy - The Corfu Years" will take place at the Achillion Palace on Sunday 4 August at 20:30 and at the Palace of St. Michael and St. George on Monday 5 August at 20:30.

On 4 August the evening will include a theatre performance directed by Petros Gallias, music from Gastouri 'Omonia' Philharmonic Band and dances from the time of the Empress performed by the Geneva Fêtes costumées dance group.

The evening will close with cocktails in the Achillion Palace gardens.

Due to limited space seating will only be available for those who have registered their names.
