CORFU. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Independent Air Accident Investigation Authority.
The first images of the Cessna that was forced to make an emergency landing in Grevena on Thursday morning are quite shocking. The plane took off from Corfu at 7:30 in the morning flying to Thessaloniki. At 08:50 there was an engine failure when it was above Grevena and the pilot made an emergency landing on a road running alongside the Egnatia motorway. According to ERT Kozani, while it was descending the aircraft hit an electricity pole, passed below the cables, overturned and ended up at the side of the road.
Firefighters arrived on the scene immediately and used foam to prevent the spilled fuel from bursting into flame.
The pilot was Corfu Air Club President Giorgos Provatas, co-pilot Dimitris Yiourgas and Akis Gogas was the passenger. Fortunately, the injuries incurred weren't serious and the three are being cared for at Grevena Hospital.

According to the Grevena Hospital Director, one of the three is more seriously injured than the others, the pilot has a head injury and the third was admitted as a precaution with minor injuries and is well.
"The pilot had injuries to the head and needed stitches but there is no cause for concern. The second person is more seriously injured with multiple fractures to the right leg - he will undergo a scan as doctors are examining an injury to the head. If we consider it necessary and depending on the examination results, he will possibly be transferred to either Ioannina or Thessaloniki Hospital," said Grevena Hospital Director Pantelis Alexiadis. "This will be decided later, however." He stressed that the most important thing was that none of them were in danger.
