Signatures expected on Friday for the go-ahead for the Waste Management Facility

CORFU. Meropi Ydraiou is expecting the inclusion of the Corfu Integrated Solid Waste Management Unit in the funding programme of the Ministry for the Environment to be signed by Friday 28 June.
Ms. Ydraiou has received promises from the local Management Authority and confirmation from Deputy Minister for the Environment Mr. Famelos on her recent visit to Athens.
According to information, the project will cost 29.8m Euros instead of 32.33m Euros which was initially stated. The inclusion of the Unit in the programme will open the way for the next steps, ensuring that it is constructed and in operation as soon as possible - thus reducing the interim period for waste management and the problems that entails.
