First meeting ahead of workshop on Cinema Tourism in September

CORFU. The meeting was organised by Corfu Municipality, the Hellenic Film Commission Department of International Audiovisual Production at the Greek Film Centre and Corfu Tourism αειForum.
A meeting took place at Faliraki this afternoon as part of the preparations for the workshop on Cinema Tourism that will be taking place in Corfu this coming September.
The meeting was organised by Corfu Municipality, the Hellenic Film Commission Department of International Audiovisual Production at the Greek Film Centre and Corfu Tourism αειForum.
The purpose of the workshop is to exploit the fact that Corfu was declared Best European Film Location for 2018 in the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN) competition.
Present at today's meeting were Corfu Mayor Kostas Nikolouzos, who highlighted the island's advantages as a top cinema destination in his brief address, the new Mayor of South Corfu Kostas Lessis, representatives of the new Central and North Municipalities, Deputy Mayor for Tourism Vassilis Kavadias and representatives from the Ionian University, the Chamber of Commerce and the tourism industry.
The Greek Film Centre was represented by the Hellenic Film Commission Director Venia Vergou and Coordinator Stavroula Geronimaki who talked about the benefits that the development of cinema tourism will bring to the island as well as the energies required from the responsible organisations in Corfu to ensure an enabling environment.
