CORFU. PAME affiliated unions have appealed to the court to be given the right to call a general assembly with representatives to prepare for elections and a new administration.

Their request is based on the argument that the majority of the outgoing administration is inactive, which means that the organization's activities have been frozen.

On Thursday the court rejected the request from the majority of the outgoing administration  to withdraw the temporary order it had issued terminating the election of 19 representatives at the general assembly and thus changing the balance of power.

The hearing of the injunction that has been filed - due to which the temporary order was issued - will take place on Wednesday 6 March. The request from the PAME unions asks for the disqualification of 24 representatives whose election to the senior committee of the Labour Centre, they claim, was irregular.

A response from these unions is also expected regarding the decision of the President of the Lawyers' Association to withdraw the appointment of a member as legal representative as this should be decided by the Association Board and not the President.
