CORFU. The Ionian Islands Regional Administration today granted a licence to Lefkimmi residual landfill with conditions (Compliance Plan).
According to the decision: "Ionian Islands Regional Governor Theodoros Galiatsatos has decided to grant an operational licence to the South Corfu Residual Landfill at Misorahia, Lefkimmi under the following conditions:
No waste shall be deposited until the deficiencies observed by the Ionian Islands Regional Service when carrying out the inspection following SYDISA's licence application have been remedied.
These observations comprise the Compliance Plan which Corfu SYDISA must carry out as soon as possible in order to ensure that the environment is protected during the operation of the facility.
Prior to the commencement of operations at the residual landfill the Regional Service will conduct another inspection to confirm that the facility can operate in full compliance with the safety and environmental regulations in the relevant legislation and in the Approval of Environmental Regulations Decision."
