Heated accommodation for homeless in the freezing weather

CORFU. At the Municipal KAPI (Public Centre for Senior Citizens) on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 February.

The Deputy Mayor for Social Welfare Andreas Skoupouras has announced that according to the Greek Meteorological Service low temperatures are expected over the next few days in regions neighbouring Corfu.

For this reason, heated accommodation will be available at the Municipal KAPI on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 February to provide temporary shelter for the homeless and others in need.

The heated accommodation at KAPI will be available from 20:00 to 08:00.

The address is Akadimias 3 (next to the Phoenix) and information is available to the public on the phoneline 26610 38320 between 08:00 and 14:30.

Information has been posted at the following Municipal locations:

1. Centre for Daily Care for the Homeless at Solomou 11

2. Municipal Community Shop & Kitchen at Mitr. Methodiou & Kolokotroni 3

3. Community Centre in St. Desylla St. next to the Municipal Theatre.

4. KAPI (Public Centre for Senior Citizens) at Akadimias 3.

Corfu Municipality, as part of its social welfare policy and the safeguarding of public health, is collaborating with the Department for Social Welfare and Education and volunteers from the Corfu branch of the Hellenic Red Cross to provide space with heating at the Municipal KAPI for the temporary accommodation of homeless people and others who may be in need when there are low temperatures.
