CORFU. A team from the Ionian Islands Regional Environmental Services carried out another inspection of Lefkimmi residue landfill on Monday afternoon.
The team inspected what progress had been made in the work at the facility in order to rule on the granting of a licence. The previous inspection was held at Christmas and a report produced reproaching the Cleansing Association with around 40 observations which precluded the granting of a licence.
The Cleansing Association is feeling increasingly pressurised with every day that passes and has been applying to the Regional Administration for a licence. Along with the team from the Regional Environmental Services this time Lefkimmi residents also joined the inspection of the facility.
Lefkimmi Cultural Society stated that it will continue to hold protests - even in Corfu Town.
