CORFU. A way has been found to utilise the ambulance donated to Corfu Municipality by the Aqui Brigade Federation from Parma.

In October 2017 the Federation of Descendants of Aqui Brigade Victims and the Municipality of Parma presented a gift of an ambulance to Corfu Municipality in gratitude for the aid given by Corfu to the Italian soldiers in 1943 when the Germans had taken over the island.

Mayor Kostas Nikolouzos said that the Municipality couldn't keep the ambulance and the first thought was to donate it to the hospital. For administrative and bureaucratic reasons this wasn't possible so eventually it was donated to the Corfu branch of EKAB (Hellenic National Centre for Emergency Care) and the Director of Epirus Regional EKAB Vassilis Papadiotis visited Corfu on Friday for the official presentation.

Mr. Papadiotis thanked Corfu Municipality for the gift and went on to say that the ambulance was an efficient and fully-equipped vehicle. He promised that the ambulance would remain in Corfu to serve the great needs of the island.
