CORFU. Deputy Regional Governor Nikoletta Pandi has been meeting continuously with the Civil Protection coordinating committee to deal with the problems created by the unprecedented snowfall in Corfu.
According to Ms. Pandi, this morning (Saturday) all the roads outside town have been cleared of snow although some small local roads may still present problems.
There are still road crews spreading salt in areas which still have ice - specifically, the roads from Ponti to Gastouri, at the bends in Spatha near to Kinopiastes, from Kato Garouna to Agious Theodorous and the bends near Kefalovrisi. There are also areas at Troumpetta which were cleared yesterday but had to be cleared again today due to the snowfall during the night.
It is forecast that the weather will become milder today and tomorrow but the Deputy Regional Governor said that they were still standing by in readiness with salt.
