CORFU. San Giacomo Society will be putting on an event ΄Active Citizens for Sustainable Historic Towns΄ during the 3-day meeting.
The preparatory meeting for the coming together of the historic towns in the South-East Mediterranean took place in Venice in April 2018 on the initiative of the Corfu San Giacomo Cultural Society. Representatives from organizations from Venice, Corfu, Rhodes, Dubrovnik, Paphos and Santorini met in the Aula Magna at the Historical Institute of Science, Literature and Art Ateneo Veneto and exchanged ideas and experiences regarding sustainability in harmony with tourist development.
It was decided to make the Network's Founding Declaration in Corfu, where the representatives from organizations from Venice, Corfu, Rhodes, Dubrovnik, Paphos and Santorini will meet again this coming weekend. The 3-day meeting coincides with the Corfu Tourism Conference and the two will work together to present the 'big picture' of the SE Mediterranean Historic Towns, exchanging experiences, collaborating, researching and taking initiatives for the sustainability of historic towns.
San Giacomo Society will be putting on an event ΄Active Citizens for Sustainable Historic Towns΄ on Friday 19 October from 16:00 to 21:00 in the Auditorium of the Ionian Academy.
The participating towns and speakers will make presentations on the major issues affecting the towns.
It is an open event and hopes to attract the interest and participation of members of the public and local organizations.
