CORFU. One of the few discerning bookshops remaining in Corfu has closed down.

For over two decades it was a place for deep and creative discussion, with numerous book and author presentations. A welcoming environment for those that love literature, science and the written word.

The owner Spyros Martinos posted a simple message on his page to say that the property had been sold and he was now saying farewell to the public who loved the bookshop.

"The building has been sold and the new owner wants to use it for himself. We are close to retirement age so we decided to call it a day.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you personally who trusted and supported us over the years. And remember - the journeys we shared in the books were wonderful and fruitful. Much-loved fellow travellers. Our relationships were relationships of honour and honourable relationships. It began in the wonderful February of 1994... and ends in the hallowed September of 2018. We will be there until the end of the month.

With all our love and wishing you all well,

Apostrophe, Tasia and Spyros"
