International awards for Corfu conductor Giorgos Balatsinos

CORFU. The up-and-coming award-winning 34-year-old Greek conductor recently won an award at the Concorso Internazionale Giancarlo Facchinetti in Italy.

Following that, on 29 July, he won an award at the international conducting competition in Bucharest with the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra (https://bminstitute.ro/#winners).

Along with hundreds of top-quality competitors from all over the world, Giorgos Balatsinos competed in four rounds and won 2nd prize conducting works by J. Brahms, P. I. Tschaikowsky, W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven, A. Dvorzak, and M. Bruch. As part of the award he has been invited to conduct the Bacau Philarmonic, Arad Philarmonic, Bucharest Symphony Orchestra and Enescu Philarmonic.

In 2019 Giorgos Balatsinos will conduct Bellini's 'Norma' with the Greek National Opera and an international cast at the Athens Festival and at Epidaurus. He has lived in Switzerland since 2003 and since 2010 he has been the conductor of the Berne Canton Youth Orchestra, which won the International Youth Orchestra Competition in Vienna in 2015. He has been the Artistic Director of the Chamber Orchestra Sinfonietta Mosaique.

In the period 2018-19 he has been invited to conduct major orchestras in Germany, Russia, Poland, Romania and Italy.

The talented conductor has also performed in Greece in recent years with orchestras such as Athens State Orchestra, Thessaloniki State Orchestra, the ERT Orchestra, Greek National Opera and the Athens and Thessaloniki Municipal Orchestras and has received glowing reviews.
