Corfu Literary Festival - A celebration of culture and cricket

CORFU. The English-language festival is taking place in Corfu 17 - 21 May with talks, workshops and cricket matches.

Important writers

The Festival is hosting an 'Authors XI' of well-known writers - authors whose books are on this year's Best Seller lists and journalists from newspapers and magazines such as the Daily Telegraph, Independent, Guardian, Daily Mail, Evening Standard, Plus, Burda and others.

On Thursday - the first day of the Festival - the writers-players took part in literary talks at Corfu Reading Society, with the opening address given by Alekos Damaskinos.



The weekend is dedicated to cricket. The Authors XI are playing two matches against the local cricket team at Gouvia and in Corfu Town.

The Festival is organized by Corfu Festival Ltd - a non-profit Corfu organization whose aim is to promote Corfu as an important European cultural destination. The organization is collaborating with local authorities to establish the Festival as a regular annual event.

Amongst the immediate aims of Corfu Festival Ltd is to include other fields of activity such as music, gastronomy and the environment.
