Dimitris Sofianos Art Exhibition at 'Avli'
Adventures in Light by Kerstin Lindgren
An art exhibition by the acclaimed Swedish artist Kerstin Lindgren - Nordic Light in Movements - in the atmospheric ambience of the historical Flour Stores in the Old Fortress.
The adventures in light travel from northern Europe to the Mediterranean along dynamic routes. The exhibition includes a performance in which the creator describes and interprets these routes of light and is accompanied by sound created by Sophie Andree.

'Improbable Probabilties 2': Art exhibition by Ionian University students at Corfu Art Gallery
The Advanced Design Workshop from the University Department of Audio Visual Arts.
The exhibition will include paintings, sketches, collages etc that were produced by the students during the academic year 2017 - 18.
The exhibition will run from 15 - 24 May.

The Art of Uzbekistan Carpets and Textiles at the Museum of Asian Art
The new permanent exhibition at the Museum of Asian Art ‘The Art of Central Asia’. The exhibits have been donated by Yiannis Sartzetakis and Ruth Dayton and include woven textiles, knitted textiles, clothing and jewels from 19th century Central Asia.

'EPTA' (Seven)
Seven musical groups, taking inspiration from the Museum, will create original musical compositions inspired by the seven energy centres (chakras), the exhibits and the building.
The Department of Musical Studies and the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museum Studies at the Ionian University will collaborate in the event.

Concert: Hymn to Liberty performed by the Corfu Male Choir
The world premiere of the 3rd version of the Hymn to Liberty, composed by Nikolaos Mantzaros, will take place at the Church of St. George in the Old Fortress at 20:30.
Hymn to Liberty is the national anthem of Greece, with the lyrics written by Dionysios Solomos and set to music by the Corfu composer Nikolaos Mantzaros.
The concert will be the first ever performance of the 3rd version and will be recorded by ERT - the public TV and Radio company - to be broadcast throughout Greece at a later date.

154th Anniversary of the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece
08:00: The celebration begins with festive bell-ringing and flags flown on public buildings, banks, shops and houses until sunset on 21st May.
18:30: Pontifical Memorial at Holy Trinity Church in Garitsa for the rest of the souls of the dearly departed - Union pioneer, Archbishop Athanasios, and the Young People of Corfu that worked for the establishment of the Union. The Archbishop of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontia Islands, Nectarios will lay a wreath at the tomb of the prelate. A memorial service at Platytera Church, at the tomb of the first Governor of Greece, Ioannis Capodistrias, and the Corfu Mayor and Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands will lay wreaths.
19:30: Representatives from twinned towns will visit the Old Town Hall.
