Reassurances from seismologists following 3.7 Richter earthquake in Achaia

PATRA. The earthquake happened at 08:25 with the epicentre in Saravali near Patras. It was felt in Patra as well as in parts of Achaia and Aitolokarnania.
According to the Institute of Geodynamics at the National Observatory in Athens the earthquake was 3.7 Richter and the epicentre was in Saravali, Patras.
It was a shallow earthquake - approximately 5km - which is why it was felt in Achaia and Aitolokarnania. Fortunately there were no injuries or damage.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre the strength was 3.9 Richter and the epicentre was 7km south-east of Patras.
Seismologists are following developments and have given reassurances.
