Corfu scouts collect 3 tons of basic necessity items

All the Corfu scout groups collected approximately 3 tons of foodstuffs and basic necessities on their ‘Become a Scout for a day’ day on Saturday 17^th March.

The food will be distributed to various community organizations in Corfu – the Municipal Community Shop, the Metropolitan Church and food banks as well as to parishes where the priests will use it to help families in financial difficulties. The collected items will also go to the orphanage, the old people’s home and ‘The Smile of a Child’. Approximately 20 bags will be distributed by the scouts themselves to families they know.

This is the 8^th year that ‘Become a Scout for a day’ has been organized and the director for Social Help and Intervention, Mari Servou told Enimerosi, “ We will continue as long as there are people who need help.”

Last year, the Corfu scouts also sent basic necessities to refugees.
