24-hour seamen’s strike on the horizon

CORFU. The Hellenic Union of Merchant Navy Seamen (PENEN) has decided to go ahead with a 24-hour strike on the day that the legislation for the 3rd evaluation comes to parliament for ratification.
The president of the Corfu Seamen’s Union, Christos Vitouladitis, told Enimerosi that they are also ready to go on strike on the day that the legislation comes to parliament.
“PENEN has already decided to call a 24-hour strike on the day that the legislation comes to the vote in parliament. We will also take part in the industrial action.” Mr Vitouladitis told us.

“At today’s meeting of the PENEN board, which was also attended by dozens of seamen, it was unanimously decided to call a 24-hour strike on the day that the legislation with all the preconditions that have been agreed with the quartet of lenders for the 3rd evaluation comes to parliament for ratification.”
