CORFU. The fountain in Corfu Town’s Upper Square was surrounded by scooters of all colours on Sunday morning.
Hundreds of people, young and old, came to see the Vespas – for many their ‘first love’ - at the annual Vespa Event.
The event has been organized since 2012 by the Vespa Team of Corfu and as well as an exhibition of Vespa scooters it has a ‘slow’ race, where the slowest wins!
The name of this famous Italian Piaggio model comes from the Italian word which means ‘wasp’. It was given this name because of the noise that the two-stroke engine makes as well as the sound of the horn which both sound like the aggressive buzzing of a wasp.
