CORFU. U.S. Ambassador to Italy and billionaire businessman Tilman Fertitta hosted his guests aboard the superyacht ΄Boardwalk΄, anchored in Corfu Port, as part of the Freedom 250 celebrations commemorating the 250th anniversary of American Independence.

Fertitta, owner of Landry’s and the Houston Rockets basketball team, is considered one of U.S. President Donald Trump’s closest allies. He took up the post of U.S. Ambassador to Italy in 2025 and, in recent months, has been hosting a series of anniversary receptions at Mediterranean ports, centred around his superyacht.

The Corfu reception was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, while prominent business figures were also present, including Giorgos Prokopiou, Dakis Joannou, Greek-Americans John Koudounis and Yiannis Sianis, Panos Xenokostas, as well as international strategy advisor Marco Vicenzino.

The event took place aboard the superyacht Boardwalk, which was docked at the facilities of the Corfu Port Authority (OLKE), away from public attention and with access restricted exclusively to invited guests. Among those attending were representatives of local government, the business community, the shipping sector and figures from wider public life, while security measures were discreet but strict.

The Corfu reception formed part of the international Freedom 250 programme, through which the United States is commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. It followed the main anniversary event hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Athens and is part of a series of activities that will culminate in 2026, a milestone year in American history.
