On the occasion of the celebration of Pentecost and Holy Spirit Day, Corfu is preparing to welcome a three-day period full of tradition, religious devotion, and authentic island festivities. Local cultural societies and village parishes are opening their doors and inviting the public to a rich programme of events. From traditional processions and choir gatherings to large folk fairs with live music, the island celebrates while keeping its customs and cultural heritage alive.
Two-day festivals and events
Kastellani Messi (Saturday 30 & Sunday 31 May)
The Pentecost festival in Kastellani Messi will last two days, offering music, dancing, and entertainment for everyone in the evenings.
- Saturday 30 May: Folk music night
- Sunday 31 May: Entertainment with the orchestra of Angelos Skolarikis
Antiperni (Sunday 31 May & Monday 1 June)
The celebrations in the village of Antiperni begin with religious reverence and culminate in a large traditional feast.
- Sunday 31 May: The customary procession for the feast of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit takes place, with the participation of worshippers and local residents.
- Monday 1 June: Large folk festival with live music and celebration by the “FAIAKES” band. The Cultural Workshop “Terpsichori” dance group will be participating, presenting traditional dances.
Platytera (Sunday 31 May & Monday 1 June)
In Platytera, tradition is being honoured with a rich two-day festival. The programme includes live music from the “Faiakes” band, while the venue will serve souvlaki, roasted lamb, and drinks, with dancing for all attendees.
Karoubatika (Sunday 31 May & Monday 1 June)
In Karoubatika, the eve and the day of the Holy Spirit are celebrated with a two-day traditional festival.
- Sunday 31 May: The evening is musically accompanied by Spyros Kontis with the “Kerkyraiki Parea.”
- Monday 1 June: The “Faiakes” band takes over for a night full of live traditional music and authentic Corfiot celebration.
Saturday 30 May
Moraitika (KOUKOUZELI Estate, next to the church) – 21:00
The Cultural Society of Moraitika presents “Let’s Dance,” the 7th Traditional Dance Festival. A special evening of tradition with dances and music from Corfu, the Aegean, Thessaly, Thrace, and Macedonia. Participants include cultural societies from Chlomos, Marathias, Moraitika, the dance group of the Corfu Intercity Bus KTEL “Saint Christopher,” and the Corfu Dancers Group.
Benitses Marina – 20:00 (Free entry)
The 4th Choir Meeting “Singing Together” - a musical evening organised by the Benitses Choir “IL CANTO,” featuring choirs from Corfu and Lesvos.
Agios Stefanos Sinion – 19:30 (Parade) / 20:00 (Start) – Free entry
Sinies Cultural and Educational Society is organising “Sinies 2026,” the 12th Meeting of Children’s Dance Groups. Children’s and youth dance groups from Corfu associations participate in an evening dedicated to tradition, dance, and the younger generation.
Sunday 31 May
Kastellani Gyrou – Evening
Kastellani Gyrou Cultural Society is organiing the traditional Pentecost festival. An evening full of music, dancing, souvlaki, roasted lamb, drinks, and good company.
Monday 1 June (Holy Spirit Day)
Kontokali – 20:00
The customary procession of the Holy Spirit takes place, followed by a traditional festival. Entertainment is provided by the “Faiakes” band.
