British tourist, 40, killed in quad bike accident in North Corfu
CORFU. His 14-year-old son was injured and taken to hospital after the vehicle came off the road in Almyros.
A tragedy occurred on Tuesday afternoon, claiming the life of a 40-year-old British tourist who died in an accident involving a quad bike. His 14-year-old son was also riding on the vehicle and was injured.
The incident happened at around 1:30 p.m. in Almyros, North Corfu. Under circumstances that are still under investigation, the quad bike being driven by the 40-year-old veered off course, left the road, and fell into a drainage ditch.
An ambulance arrived quickly at the scene, and paramedics provided first aid and transported the father and son to Corfu General Hospital. Unfortunately, it was already too late for the 40-year-old father, whose death was confirmed at the hospital.
The Fire Service and the Civil Protection unit of the Municipality of North Corfu also attended the scene and assisted in freeing the passengers from the vehicle.
His 14-year-old son, who was injured in the crash, remains hospitalised at Corfu General Hospital, where he is receiving the necessary medical care. The competent police authorities are conducting a preliminary investigation into the causes and exact circumstances of the tragic accident.
