CORFU. Tuesday, April 28, (09:30–14:00), in the Corfu Port Authority Meeting Room, New Port.

The Decentralised Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian Islands, within the framework of the project “ARGONAUT – chARting a Greener cOurse for NAUtical Tourism”, in which it participates as a Partner, is organising a Stakeholder Strategic Consultation Workshop on the Sustainable Development of Nautical Tourism, on Tuesday, April 28, (09:30–14:00), in the Corfu Port Authority Meeting Room, New Port.

The ARGONAUT project is a cross-border initiative of the Interreg VI-A Greece–Italy 2021–2027 Programme. It aims to develop common strategies for the sustainable development of nautical tourism in the Adriatic–Ionian region, addressing modern environmental, economic, and social challenges, with particular emphasis on coastal zones and marinas. The project promotes the use of innovative tools, the enhancement of relevant skills, and cross-border cooperation for the exchange of knowledge and best practices.

Among the project’s main actions are the development of a digital platform that will use artificial intelligence to provide safer and more “green” maritime routes in real time, as well as the upgrading of pilot ports in Gallipoli, Corfu, and Patras with modern green infrastructure.

The project is implemented by the following partners: ITS Academy Mobilità (Lead Partner), the Maritime Industrial Cluster of Apulia, the Municipality of Gallipoli, Corfu Port Authority S.A., Patras Port Authority S.A., and the Decentralised Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian Islands.

The Decentralised Administration actively contributes to the implementation of the planned actions, strengthening cooperation between public authorities and local stakeholders and promoting the dissemination of results at regional level. In addition, it is responsible for mapping the current state of sustainable nautical tourism practices.

The Workshop aims to inform stakeholders and the local community about the project’s actions and tools, as well as to develop proposals for promoting more sustainable practices in nautical tourism. It is addressed to representatives of port authorities, local government, tourism enterprises, professional bodies, and the academic community.
