΄Lucky΄ boy, 17, falls from scaffolding but lands on balcony
CORFU. Major operation by the Fire Service in the town center – the young man was rescued with only minor injuries.
An incident that could have turned into a tragedy occurred in the centre of Corfu Town, in an apartment building, when a 17-year-old fell from scaffolding.
The young man was on the scaffolding when he suddenly felt unwell and became dizzy. Fortunately, his fall did not end in an empty drop. The 17-year-old hit the railing of a nearby balcony and landed on the inner side, which saved his life.
Because of the position where the injured teenager ended up, a large-scale operation was immediately launched to bring him down to the ground:
Three Fire Service vehicles rushed to the scene.
A special ladder truck was used to safely reach the balcony and lower the 17-year-old.
After he was rescued, the young man was handed over to an ambulance. According to initial reports, he has injuries that are fortunately not considered serious, and he was taken to the hospital for first aid and further examinations.
The incident caused temporary disruption to traffic in the town centre, while those present described the young man’s survival as a “miracle.”
