“Pay-as-you-throw” waste management system

CORFU. Hoteliers event attended by the Secretary General for Waste Management, focusing on the relationship between local authorities and tourist establishments and their waste, with the goal of achieving zero waste.
Secretary General for Waste Management Manolis Grafakos will participate, among others, in the event that the Hoteliers’ Association is organising this evening. The event concerns especially waste management and recycling in tourist establishments following the model of Hersonissos in Crete.
At the event, speakers will include the Mayor of Hersonissos, Zaharías Doxastákis, and the Deputy Secretary General of SETE and President of ReHoreca, who will refer to the implementation of a method for zero waste. Manolis Grafakos and the Regional Governor of the Ionian Islands, Yiannis Trepeklis, will give welcome addresses, with the latter in his capacity also as President of Ionian Islands FODSA.
What is ReHoreca?
A Civil Non-Profit Company, whose benefits are returned to its members. It supports a collective system of alternative waste management for HORECA businesses. It organises source separation for more than twenty waste streams within enterprises. All waste is diverted from landfilling and directed to specialised management. All staff members of our subscribers are trained in waste management.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Cook’s Club Corfu / Rox Events Hall in Kommeno / Gouvia.
