CORFU. The commemorative events, attended by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar, will run from April 30 to May 2.

The Corfu Greek–Serbian Friendship Association, under the presidency of Mr. Željko Popović, is organising a rich three-day programme of events dedicated to the historical and cultural ties between the two peoples. From April 30 to May 2, Corfu will become the focal point of activities that combine historical reflection, religious devotion, and artistic expression.

Event Programme

Thursday, April 30 (Ionian Parliament): The programme opens at the Ionian Parliament with two main presentations:

  • At 14:00, a talk on the “Blue Tomb” will take place, focusing on the island of Vidos in Corfu and the island of Pag in Croatia.
  • At 19:00, the focus shifts to the hero Mihailo Pupin, accompanied by screenings of historical documentaries.

Friday, May 1 (Liapades): The programme continues at 19:00 in Liapades, where a special musical event will be held, highlighting the cultural harmony between the two peoples.

Saturday, May 2 (Vidos Island & Anemomylos): The final day includes the most emotionally charged moments:

  • At 09:00, departure from the Old Port to Vidos Island. There, at the Serbian Mausoleum, a memorial service will be held in the presence of the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Hilandar on Mount Athos, Elder Methodios.
  • At 19:00, the events will conclude at the Anemomylos Park amphitheatre with a large music and dance performance.

The Association extends an open invitation to residents and visitors to attend and honour these events, which have now become an established institution highlighting the shared historical journey of Greeks and Serbs.
