First day of the Ionian Islands Guitar Festival

There was traditional music from Venezuela and Cuba as well as chamber music on the first day of the Festival in the hall of the ‘Kapodistrias’ Philharmonic Society.
CORFU. The first day of the 2nd Ionian Islands Guitar Festival was opened by the talented young guitarist, Giorgos Golgaris, who is the artistic director of the festival and Stelios Golgaris, president of the Society of Greek Guitarists. They performed Venezuelan and Cuban traditional pieces for two guitars. This was followed by guitarist-composer, Giorgos Papadopoulos, who performed five short solo pieces and then chamber music from the ‘Rainbow Paths’ and ‘Colours’ collections together with the flautist Konstantina Tsekoura.
On the second day, the Society of Greek Guitarists honoured the ‘Kapodistrias’ Philharmonic Society for its contribution to culture in general and to Corfu culture in particular.
All the festival performances take place in the hall of the ‘Kapodistrias’ Philharmonic Society and admission is free.
