Wind rekindles flames - people leaving Old Perithia
CORFU. Evacuation order for Loutses - People leaving Old Perithia for precautionary reasons.
The fire is raging in the areas of Loutses, Lafki and Anapaftiria, with the Fire Department, North Corfu Civil Protection Service and volunteers struggling to prevent its spread towards settlements.
The evacuation of Loutses has already been ordered by the 112 service, directing people to Acharavi.
Precautionary measures are also being taken to evacuate people from the Old Perithia area, although there has been no official message from 112 as of 12:20 pm.
The fire front remains strong and close to Lafki, where the fire crossed the dirt road, rekindled, and climbed up the peak.
The battle is now focused on preventing it from descending towards the settlement. According to Giorgos Mavropoulos, from the Civil Protection Service, "Any point that was not completely extinguished yesterday (Monday) was reignited within a few minutes by the wind that picked up again!"
