CORFU. The Central Corfu Mayor said that there are plans to install three more Seatrack systems and a sea access system for the visibly challenged.

The Central Corfu Municipality, after installing 14 amphibious wheelchairs, proceeded to the installation of three Seatrack systems on the beaches of Dassia, Ipsos and Paleokastritsa.

This installation consists of a fixed track mechanism in which a wheel chair can be moved in and out of the water allowing those with special needs, with mobility problems and the elderly people to go into the sea without assistance.

At the main beach in Paleokastritsa there are already 3 amphibious wheelchairs, in addition to the Seatrack system, while in Dasia there are 2 amphibious wheelchairs and a Seatrack system. Apart from these areas, there are also wheelchairs installed on the beaches of Mon Repos, Alykes, Gouvia, Barbati, Glyfada, Diapontia, Othoni and Erikousa.

The Municipality, in collaboration with TOBEA, offers everyone the possibility to be informed about the Seatrack systems and obtain the remote control for free.

The Central Corfu Mayor said that there are plans to install three more Seatrack systems and a sea access system for the visibly challenged, which will provide audio messages, so that they can swim on their own.

Finally, the Deputy Mayor for Social Policy Andreas Skoupouras said that there are also other actions planned, such as the creation of new special needs parking spots, with a deterrent disabled parking system, the construction of new ramps in collaboration with the Corfu Special Needs Association and the creation of an application with the routes in the Old Town that are accessible for people with special needs.
