CORFU. Tribute concert for Mikis Theodorakis at the Corfu Gymnastics Association on Wednesday 26 August with all the necessary Covid measures.
With all the necessary Covid measures in place, there was an outdoor concert in honour of composer Mikis Theodorakis at the Corfu Gymnastics Association on Wednesday 26 August on the occasion of his 95th birthday.
The special event 'Lyrical and Popular Mikis' was organised by Anemomylos Cultural & Environmental Society.
Taking part were soprano Lia Kolita, mezzo soprano Eleni Davou, tenor Antonis Koronaios, tenor Spyros Souaref, baritone Pantelis Kontos and the folk singer Gerasimos Andreatos.
Narrator Grigoris Valtinos, the well-known actor, related several stories about the life of Mikis Theodorakis and read extracts from his works.
The event's artistic director Panagis Barbatis played piano and Dimitris Livanos was bouzouki soloist.
The concert included well-known songs by Mikis Theodorakis from different periods of his life with lyrics by Dimitris Christodoulou, Yiannis Theodorakis, Tasos Livaditis, Odysseas Elitis and others and with different styles of music.
