196 new cases of COVID-19 in Greece today, including 1 in Corfu

ATHENS. EODY announced 196 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday 11 August, one of which is in Corfu.

EODY announced 196 new confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 , of which 20 were detected at entry points. The total number of cases in Greece is now 5,942, of which 54.9% are males. 1,503 (25.3%) of the cases are connected to arrivals from abroad and 2,885 (48.6%) are from contacts with known cases.

The figures show a spike in Attica with 82 confirmed new cases, 10 of which were connected to a trip in Greece.

There was also a big increase in Thessaloniki with 42 new confirmed cases compared to 18 yesterday.

There was a total of 26 imported cases - 20 were detected at entry points and 6 arrivals who volunteered to be tested.

The 196 new cases are broken down as follows:

26 patients - 8 female, 18 male - are intubated in ICUs. The average age is 65 and 53.8% have underlying health conditions or are over 70. 130 patients have been discharged from ICUs

There was 1 death today, taking the total number of fatalities to 214. 71 (33.2%) were females and the average age was 76. 95.8% had underlying health conditions or were over 70.
