European Week for Waste Reduction a success in Central Corfu

CORFU. Central Corfu Municipality took part in European Week for Waste Reduction 2022 in collaboration with the company Appliance Recycling - Electrocycle.

Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality undertook activities as part of European Week for Waste Reduction last week to raise public awareness with regard to the proper management of their electrical and electronic waste.

From Monday to Friday last week the municipality set up an information point at the Municipal Theatre between 08:00 and 15:30 with special bins for separate waste streams such as light bulbs, ink cartridges, small electrical and electronic appliances and batteries.



The week's activities were successful and had the following results:

- Hundreds of members of the public visited and received information.
- Large amounts of waste were brought and deposited in the separate bins.

120 items of used footwear and clothing were collected, 620 batteries, 40 light bulbs, 32 electrical and electronic appliances and 20 ink cartridges and toners.

The municipality issued a statement saying: "Central Corfu Municipality is steadily creating and developing waste collection streams. On a daily basis, members of the public are learning about these efforts and taking part."

The week's activities were part of European Week for Waste Reduction 2022 in collaboration with the company Appliance Recycling - Electrocycle.
