Regional Director of Education congratulates Corfu Prison School

CORFU. The Second Opportunity School contributes significantly to the reintegration of inmates into the community.
The Ionian Islands Regional Director of Secondary Education Petros Aggelopoulos met with the Director of the 2nd Corfu Prison Second Opportunity School Kyriakos Kolesis at the Education Department office on Thursday.
The Director of Education gave warm congratulations to Mr. Kolesis, the teachers, students, inmates and prison guards on the participation of a graduate of the Prison School in the National Examinations for the first time at a special examination centre at the prison.
Mr. Aggelopoulos also congratulated them on the concert they performed at the Old Fortress on Wednesday 22 June.
The Director of Education issued the following statement:
"The Second Opportunity School contributes significantly to the reintegration of inmates into the community. It gives the inmate students the chance to visualise a better way of life with different prospects and choices.
"In addition to its official role of improving the knowledge and skills of inmates, the Prison Second Opportunity School is successfully helping them to reintegrate them into the community so that they can continue their lives in a positive way - both for Corfu Prison and Corfu society."
