CORFU. The members expressed their willingness to help with the island΄s ecological and environmental issues and discussed improvements to the Alykes and Agia Ekaterini shore.
On Monday 27 June the board of Corfu Ecology Club met with Mayor Meropi Ydraiou at Marasliio Town Hall.
They expressed their willingness to help with the island΄s ecological and environmental issues and discussed improvements to the Alykes and Agia Ekaterini shore - a green space and beach which, bearing in mind the current high fuel prices, offer the public a bathing location that is not too far away.
They also discussed the possibility of creating an area for events there with a stage and an information kiosk with environmental and other information. The Mayor showed an interest and said that she would look into the matter as in the Alykes area there is the involvement of the state and Central Corfu Municipality with regard to the real estate.
The board members gifted the Mayor with a T-shirt with the Ecology Club logo. The members who attended were the President Spyros Mamalos, Vice-President Andreas Provatas along with Spyros Peratikos and Giorgos Bakolis.
