CORFU. The conference, organised by Central Corfu Municipality, takes place 15-17 June at the Municipal Theatre.
Central Corfu Municipality is organising the 9th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens and with dozens of international scientists.
The conference is taking place 15-17 June at the Municipal Theatre and will be preceded by a conference at the 2-day Summer School, which is focussing on sustainable solid waste management and the circular economy.
The 9th Corfu-2022 International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management is one of the most important and globally recognised conferences focussing on waste management, circular economy and saving resources and will attract the attention of the global scientific community to the island.
The Scientific Committee is chaired by Maria Loizidou from the National Technical University of Athens and over 750 people will be participating from around the world, both in-person and online.
The conference is a project included in the Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality's participation in the EU 100 Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC), in the category 'Waste Management and the Circular Economy'. The Municipality is represented by Deputy Mayor for European Programmes, Development and Digital Governance Panayiota Tzanne - who is the local ICC project manager - and Viktoras Dimoulis, the assistant project manager.
