CORFU. Pupils from the 7th Primary School visited Acharavi Green Spot on Wednesday 25 May.

Pupils from the 7th Primary School asked the Deputy Mayor for Circular Economy, Environment, Social Policy and Public Relations Spyridoula Kokkali for the opportunity to see how sorting at source is being done and learn about recycling. Thus, on Wednesday 25 May they visited the Acharavi Green Spot along with their Principal and teachers.

The Deputy Mayor accepted the invitation with great pleasure and, thus, both young and old visited the Acharavi Green Spot and had an excellent experience.

They were shown around the Green Spot, they were informed about recycling and the operation of Green Spots and saw how sorting at source is being done in practice. The Deputy Mayor welcomed them and said the following:

“The North Corfu Municipality is implementing a circular economy programme and, thus, many people are engaged in recycling with the ultimate goal of drastically reducing waste, so that there is both environmental and economic benefit.

The work is collective and everyone is contributing with the guidance and support of the Municipal Authority – citizens, community presidents, local councils, cultural and sports clubs, associations, the educational community, etc.”

She congratulated the Principal and the teachers for their initiative to let the children know the benefits of recycling, which materials are recycled and especially how to become well-informed citizens when it comes to environmental protection issues. The Agios Panteleimonas community president Yiannis Koskinas was also present during the visit.
