CORFU. 49 pupils from the Pont l’Eveque Primary School, along with 8 teachers and the school΄s Principal, visited the Lefkimmi 2nd Primary School. The visit included cultural and sports activities.

The Lefkimmi 2nd Primary School hosted, as part of the Erasmus Programme, from 1 to 5 May, the public primary school of Pont l’Eveque in Corfu and Lefkimmi.

Following the visits of the teachers to Lefkimmi and Normandy, as well as the Lefkimmi 2nd Primary School pupils in Normandy in April, it was time for Greece to welcome the French school in Corfu. 49 pupils from the Pont l’Eveque Primary School, along with 8 teachers and the school's Principal, visited the Lefkimmi 2nd Primary School. The visit included cultural and sports activities.

When they arrived on May 1st, the guests visited the Corfu Old Fortress and toured its premises.

On 2 May they visited the Lake Korission and walked in the traditional Argyrades.

On 3 May they met their Greek classmates, who welcomed them at their school - the Lefkimmi 2nd Primary School. There they toured the school premises and classrooms. Then, all together, they drew the concepts they learned during the Erasmus programme (friendship, rivalry, competition, love, etc.) in three languages (Greek, French, English). At the end, they played team games in mixed teams and took photos together. The same evening, they organised a Greek music night to honour their guests, where the Greek students sang and danced under the supervision of the school's music teacher Anthi Stavrou.

On 4 May, they did sports activities at the Lefkimmi Stadium. Physical education teacher Vassilis Makantanis had organised many activities, such as football, field hockey, volleyball, badminton, tug of war, running, etc. Coaches and physical education teachers from Lefkimmi Junior High School also helped in these activities. At the end, the children tasted Greek food provided by the pupils' mothers.

On 5 May, the French pupils visited the Corfu Town historic centre and the St. Spyridon church. Then, they all said goodbye, hoping to meet again in the future. Everyone was very happy with their stay and they promised to maintain friendly relations and continue the activities.

This experience was a great opportunity for everyone to do something so special, which brought them closer to France and the French language and its people.

The teachers Vasiliki-Maria Pagiavli, Grammatia Papadimitriou, Vasiliki Stergianou, Penelope Chrysikopoulou and Maria-Eleni Toyia took part in this visit. Ekaterini Papastergiou was responsible for the programme.
