CORFU. The ΄Old΄ Philharmonic Society will be performing its traditional Easter concert at the Municipal Theatre.
Corfu Philharmonic Society will once again kick off Corfu Easter celebrations with its traditional concert on Lazarus Saturday, 16 April at 20:30. Admission is free.
The concert will take place at the Municipal Theatre after a gap of two years due to the pandemic and the presence of a live audience for this Easter celebration will be a happy change from last year.
All Covid measures will, of course, be observed.
The concert will be conducted by Spyros Prosoparis and will present a varied programme of classical works (Meyerbeer, Mozart, Puccini, Wagner, Musorgsky, Wagner) arranged for bands along with works by Reineke, Metallinos and Prosoparis. Most of the works are related to Easter.
There will be a special performance of 'Introduction No.9' by Nikolaos Mantzaros (arranged by Spyros Prosoparis) as part of the 'Old' Philharmonic Society's tribute to the 150th anniversary of the death of the great Corfu composer in 1872.
