CORFU. The project is expected to be completed within 2022.
The Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality announced an open invitation for tenders for the award of the long-awaited project of a public car park, which will improve everyday life in Corfu Town.
As stated in the study accompanying the notice of invitation for tenders, “this project aims to provide a solution to the parking problem that the residents and visitors of Corfu Town have to face”. The study proposes the creation of a temporary car park in an apartment block, in order to help ease the traffic problem in Corfu Town.
The project's budget is €274,000 and it is funded by the Municipality's resources. According to the study, the main works to be carried out are excavations for ground leveling and for the height adjustment of the building blocks and roads, coating of crushed rock material in the base and sub-base of the road, road pavement and road markings. The project also includes the installation of lighting.
The project has to be delivered within 2022, since the project’s deadline is set at 6 months from the date of the signing of the contract. Tenders must be submitted until Tuesday 1 February 2022 at 10:00am. Friday 4th February 2022 at 10:00 has been set as the date and time for the electronic opening of tenders. In addition, the contractor is required to prepare and submit the project’s construction schedule to the responsible service, from the 15th to the 30th day following the signing of the contract.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, Corfu Town will have a new temporary car park this year.
