Corfu Hospital health workers continue protest

CORFU. 64 hospital employees are on the 92nd day of their suspension.
The suspended employees have not been replaced and the remaining employees have to cover their duties without being able to take any leave, which has also been suspended in the public health sector.
The Hospital Employees Union and the Psychiatric Department Employees Union gathered at the hospital entrance today as part of the nationwide protest by the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Employees.
The Union of Cleaners on Temporary Contracts also took part for the third day of their protest as their contracts have not been renewed and it is planned that contract companies will take over again in the new year.
The employees are protesting that the government is punishing all those who have chosen not to get vaccinated and say that the state should provide proper information to persuade those who have doubts about the necessity for vaccinations. Instead of this, they claim, the government chooses to punish and divide and this has now been extended to the elderly with the imposition of fines.
Ζητούν προσλήψεις μόνιμου προσωπικού, τη μονιμοποίηση όλων των συναδέλφων συμβασιούχων στην καθαριότητα που βρίσκονται σε ομηρία εδώ τρία χρόνια, για την ουσιαστική ενίσχυση του στυστήματος υγείας είτε στον οικονομικό τομέα είτε την περαιτέρω στελέχωση. Απεργούν για την πολιτική της κυβέρνησης στην ιδιωτικοποίηση, όπως έχει ήδη γίνει με τα συνεργεία φύλαξης και εστίασης (τραπεζοκόμους) αλλά πλέον και τα συνεργεία καθαριότητας από τις αρχές του χρόνου.
