Sit-ins end at all Corfu schools
CORFU. School administrations announced that all the sit-ins ended today and schools were open once again for lessons.
According to the Ionian Islands Regional Education Department, the sit-ins at the three Corfu schools ended today. The sit-ins at the 1st and 2nd High Schools had lasted one day, whereas that at the 2nd Vocational High School had been going on for several days. The school principals said that in-person lessons have now resumed.
Junior high schools and high schools in Corfu have been holding sit-ins on and off for over one and a half months now. Some lasted for several days, whereas others ended after the intervention of parents.
There was serious vandalism during the sit-ins, especially at the Corfu Lab Centre in Mantouki.
The first sit-ins began on 22 September - just a few days after the reopening of the schools.
