The Mega Vaccination Centre is closing today, Wednesday, and everything is being taken down and the equipment removed.
The centre opened on 31 May in order to speed up the vaccination, using the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccination. The aim of the Ministry of Health had been to administer 1,000 vaccinations a day for 40 days.
However, due to the significant decrease in numbers coming to the centre, it was decided to transfer the Pfizer streams from the hospital to the centre in the hope of increasing vaccinations.
Following the closure of the Mega Centre, the Health Centres will be responsible for the vaccination programme with the 10 Pfizer streams at the National Sports Centre (EAKK) being transferred there.
