Lawsuit filed against persons unknown for damage and theft of equipment at 3rd-4th Junior High Schools

CORFU. The police are investigating the matter.
The Principal of Corfu 3rd Junior High and the Deputy Principal of Corfu 4th Junior High filed a lawsuit against persons unknown on Thursday for damage to the school buildings and theft of equipment as a consequence of Wednesday's sit-in by a small group of pupils and others.
According to the Principal of the 3rd Junior High Miltiades Melissas, considerable damage was done in both schools. In a circular sent to parents he said that even his own personal work laptop was stolen along with seven tablets and a web camera.
The police are investigating the matter and fingerprints were collected from Mr. Melissas' office.
In the circular sent to parents, the Principal said, "In addition to the legal side of the matter, the school (the teachers and myself) will take immediate academic measures. This is not a threat, but is part of our responsibilities.
"I will set in motion the procedures for elections for the Parents and Guardians Association and your responsibilities and representation in school life. We are all responsible for our children, who are tomorrow's citizens of this country - a country with a glorious past but fragile future."
Today classes resumed as normal at the 3rd Junior High, which has 240 pupils, whereas yesterday, Thursday, lessons were held online as the building had to be cleaned and disinfected and the damage done during the sit-in repaired.
At the 4th Junior High, although the sit-in has ended, lessons are being conducted online for the second day.
The sit-in at Corfu 2nd Vocational High School is continuing for the third day running. Pupils are protesting at the lack of distancing in the classrooms.
