German swimmer, 24, dies at Canal d΄amour

CORFU. The German was swimming with friends yesterday afternoon but lost consciousness when fighting against the mistral. When his friends realised what had happened, they pulled him out onto the rocks.
The death of the tourist has was initially attributed to the dangerous waves against the rocks in the Canal d' amour due to the mistral.
After they had pulled him onto the rocks, his friends and other bathers, including a nurse, tried to resuscitate him. According to witnesses, a defibrillator was also used but to no avail.
An ambulance was called out at approximately 13:30 and arrived 30 minutes later, but the young tourist never regained consciousness. He was taken to hospital, where death was confirmed.
An autopsy will be conducted, which will determine the exact cause of death.
