Epitaphios and St.Spyridon procession

CORFU. The Epitaphios procession with the Sacred Relics of St. Spyridon just went around the block at St, Spyridon Church on Saturday at 9am.
The faithful followed the procession, which was accompanied, as is the tradition, by 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Band playing Calde Lacrimae, the 'Old' Philharmonic playing Amleto and 'Capodistrias Philharmonic playing Marcia Funebre from Beethoven's Eroica Symphony - the traditional marches for Easter Saturday.
According to Corfu tradition, the Epitaphios procession takes place on Easter Saturday and not on Good Friday. This tradition has been followed since the time of the Venetians who in 1574 banned the Orthodox procession on Good Friday.
