Retail shops gradually opening in Athens

ATHENS. According to Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias, 1 customer per 25 sq.m. will be allowed up to a maximum of 20 customers.
Retail shops will open on Monday 5 April with shoppers being allowed to order products remotely and collected them from outside shops (click-away) or book an appointment to go into a shop (click-in-shop). Consumers will be able to go to the shops by sending a special SMS code to 13032 and will have a time limit of three hours to make their purchases.
According to the announcement from Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias, one customer per 25 sq.m. will be allowed up to a maximum of 20 customers. The measure does not apply to department stores and shopping malls, which remain closed.
As a pilot scheme movement between municipalities with a car, using code 6, will be allowed for up to 3 people or a family for exercise outdoors from Saturday 3rd but only on weekends.
A decision on the reopening of schools will be made next week with a view to starting some classes on 12 April. Self tests will start to become available from next week.
New ICUs in Attica
Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias announced that Thriasio Hospital will also become a Covid-only hospital. From 7 April it will have 130 regular Covid beds and 33 in the ICU - the number of regular beds will gradually increase to 180. Other cases will be sent to private clinics and the operation of the Thriasio will also be covered by the private sector.
He also announced that 51 new National Health System ICUs will be opening - 16 at the Genimatas Hospital, 5 at the Evaggelismos, 5 at the Laiko, 7 at the Ippokratio, 4 at the Elpis, 10 at the Konstantopoulio and 4 at the Attiko.
The Minister said that the vaccination programme was progressing normally. Up to now, 1,691,000 shots have been given and there are 1,042 vaccination centres with 3,500 staff. He said that 1.5m vaccinations are expected to be administered in April.
