CORFU. The Federation sent a letter to Mayor Giorgos Mahimaris, Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa and Corfu MPs about the condition of the roads in the Agios Georgios area.

Corfu Federation of Tourist Accommodation Owners (OETK) has issued a statement saying that it has sent a letter to North Corfu Mayor Giorgos Mahimaris, Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa and the Corfu MPs Stefanos Gikas, Alexandros Avlonitis and Dimitris Biangis regarding the condition of roads in the north of the island.

The letter refers to the dreadful state of the roads - community and public - leading to the Agios Georgios area, which could lead to serious accidents.

OETK statement:

"With our letter to the North Corfu Mayor Giorgos Mahimaris and Council members, Regional Governor Rodi Kratsa and the MPs Gikas, Avlonitis and Biangis we reiterated the matter that we raised in our letter of 14 February 2020 of the poor state of the community and public roads in our area.

Unfortunately, however, despite our appeals, the state of the roads leading to the Agios Georgios area - from Kavadades to the beach and Kastellani Mesi - Arkadades - Agros - Aspiotades - Manatades - Agios Georgios beach - remains tragic.

The condition of the road Aspiotades - Manatades - Agios Georgios is especially tragic and the road surface is worse than it was previously as the work started by the Municipality has remained half-finished and the road is in dreadful condition and dangerous.

We concluded in our letter that the situation can go no further and it is in their hands to protect the local residents and visitors to the area from the dangers presented by the road conditions - if immediate action is not taken, we will see serious accidents."
