Civil Protection Deputy Minister announces additional measures - including limited opening hours in Attica

ATHENS. Everyone will be able to access the new measures on 112.

Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias has announced a series of additional measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

- A limit of 50 people at public and social events except for venues where special regulations are implemented, such as restaurants, theatres, cinemas until 24 August in areas with epidemiological problems.

- Catering and entertainment establishments to close between midnight and 7 in the morning in Attica, Kythira and the Argosaronic in addition to the areas previously announced.

- Special measures in Paros and Antiparos. From 6 a.m. tomorrow meetings and events with more than 9 people are prohibited; in catering establishments a maximum of 4 will be able to sit together unless it is a family, in which case the limit is 6; mandatory use of face masks everywhere - outdoors and indoors; catering establishments to close at midnight.

- The special measures in Poros are extended until 24 August with the exception that catering establishments have to close at 12 midnight instead of 11.

- Mandatory use of masks in places with a large number of people - barracks, social welfare facilities and refugee and immigrant camps.

- Employers and supervisors will be responsible to see that covid tests are carried out on all those returning from holiday to work at care homes and other facilitiesd with large numbers of people (e.g. military camps, social welfare facilities and refugee and immigrant camps)

- Members of vulnerable groups at risk of becoming seriously ill with coronavirus working in the public and private sectors to work from home or in the back office - the employee chooses - until 31 August.

Face masks

The Deputy Minister also announced the following:

- Strong recommendation for general use of masks everywhere for a week in epidemiologically burdened areas for those returning from holidays.

- Special care should be taken to strictly adhere to health measures and the use of masks in churches and other places of worship and other venues with large numbers of people at this time of celebrations for 15 August.

- Special care is recommended with personal hygiene measures during and after the wave of people returning from their holidays, especially in public transport and ferries. Port authorities will be out in numbers to ensure that the measures are adhered to and to impose fines.

- Recommendation to use masks in all enclosed spaces and mandatory use of masks at outdoor gatherings where distances cannot be maintained.
