CORFU. The driver lost control of his car due to medical reasons.

The autopsy on 38-year-old Petros Vitouladitis, who died when his car fell into a ravine in Petalia on Pantokrator on Tuesday afternoon, was completed today.

The Medical Examiner Chrysavgi Koussi told Enimerosi that the young man suffered a pulmonary embolism followed by ischaemia in the myocardium. As a result he lost control of the car and it fell into a ravine. His condition worsened due to the bleeding of his right leg which was injured in the fall.

The Medical Examiner estimates that the tragic accident happened several hours before the car was spotted - in other words, on the morning of the same day.

Toxicology tests are still to be done which may throw more light on the cause of death.
