There was no powder found in any of them.

31 'suspicious' packages have now been discovered throughout the country - mainly addressed to educational institutes. Authorities were on the alert after a member of staff at the Aegean University in Mytilene got skin irritation from one of the packages.

The police have officially recorded 30 packages and the Dean of Western Attica University said yesterday that he had received one before Christmas but threw it away as he didn't consider it important.

According to a statement from the Civil Protection General Secretariat yesterday, "Following our previous statements regarding the the content of suspicious packages sent to educational institutes and other addressees, we would like to state that from the tests carried out at the General Chemical State Laboratory (AADE) so far no powder or other substance has been found in any of them other than that which caused skin irritation in the first one."

All the packages contained booklets promoting Islam with the following titles:

"Al-Insan & Al-Kafiroon" - "Man and the Unbelievers"

"The ultimate victory is for Islam but not through Muslims"

"Oh man… Be a Man, not a Satan!"

"How to extend the date line of Earth’s pole shifting? The only weapon against terrorism!"
